When your book is made

When you say it is finished. There is no date in the diary and no deadline: you write until you have written what you wanted to write, then you make a preview of the book, read it, and approve it for printing. Nothing is printed before that.

Most people take nine to twelve months over it. Taking longer costs nothing and is not a problem.

When it ships

Your book is printed and shipped within 10 working days of the moment you approve it.

Designed in London. Printed and bound close to you.

Every Lifebound book is made to one specification — linen over board, foil-blocked spine, Smyth sewn in signatures — at the bindery nearest you. UK orders are printed and bound in the UK; US orders in the US; EU orders in France.

Because your book is made in the region it is posted to, it does not cross a border to reach you. There is nothing to pay when it arrives: no duty, no import VAT, no handling fee.

Your delivery address

You give it in the app when your book goes to print, and you can change it yourself at any time until then.

If it doesn’t arrive

We reprint it and send it again, and we never ask you to prove anything. The same goes if it arrives damaged — see returns.

There’s no deadline you can fail.

Write for six months, a year, or three. We’ll never ask you to pay again to finish, and we’ll never close your book because you were slow.

The only thing we won’t do is leave you without a book. If you’re still writing two years after your chapter was due to close, we’ll check in — and if we don’t hear back, we’ll print what you have and post it, so you end up with the thing you paid for.
